Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her aid and commitment to strengthening South African Social Security Company (SASSA) services in the course of an engagement using the agency's senior managers in a strategic setting up session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
On the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing eighty one% on the registered pupils while in the schooling sector.
These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates the financial commitment government is creating from the life of lousy and vulnerable children is yielding a beneficial effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe said.
Reflecting on latest achievements, the Minister highlighted important milestones and ongoing priorities. She committed to urgently addressing the issue of everlasting leadership appointments along with the lack of personnel at most community offices. here
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the necessity for Neighborhood-based engagements and outreach functions.
"Our community is expecting our huge intensification of community outreach, in which we prioritise underserved parts to bring providers nearer website to our persons," she reiterated.
With regards to SASSA systems, Tolashe urged management to prioritise bettering and modernising programs to boost accessibility, queue administration and stop fraud.
On top of that, the Minister has asked for SASSA Performing CEO, Themba Matlou, to deliver a plan that seeks to resolve the sassa status check problems of payment channels in rural places srd grant payment dates by delivering an alternate Option for payments.
